Song for the Weekend

Every weekend I’ll be posting a music video. I’ll be featuring new music, old classics or a just a tune I want to share.

In honour of the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death tomorrow I feel it’s only right that the first “Song for the Weekend” is dedicated to one of his biggest hits.

I was less than 2 years old when Billie Jean was released but can remember listening to this song throughout my childhood. The second single from the album Thriller and topped the singles charts around the world. It is the music video though that still exudes brilliance after nearly 30 years. The cool, sophisticated video features Michael dancing down a pathway lighting it up as he goes. It was Michael’s performance of Billie Jean at the Motown 25 where we saw the debut of the moonwalk that became what must be the most iconic dance move of all time.

Tomorrow we remember, but we also dance to songs like this.
