Matthew Shepard – Never Forget

20111012-170028.jpg

Matthew Wayne Shepard was tortured and murdered near Laramie, Wyoming, in October 1998. He was attacked on the night of October 6th and died on October 12th from severe head injuries.

Witnesses at the time stated that the attack was based purely on Matthews sexual orientation.

13 years have now passed since Matthew’s tragic death. We still see homophobic attacks, bullying and murder.

The world needs to wake up and tackle this problem. This is human beings killing, attacking and bullying other human beings purely because of their sexuality. One death is too many.

The murder of Matthew Shepard serves as a reminder to all of what we are up against. I fight to put an end to homophobia not only for Matthew, but for the teenagers who have committed suicide because they can’t take any more bullying, for every life taken or damaged, and to show those that bullied me when I was a teen that I am not a victim.

Rest in peace Matthew Shepard and know that people around the world remember and will never forget.
