Scottish Police investigate brutal killing of gay man

Police are investigating the death of Stuart Walker in Ayrshire, Scotland. The 28 year old gay man was found dead tied to a lamp-post in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had been brutally beaten, tied to the lamp-post then set on fire.

Although no motive has yet been established, police are not ruling out the possibility that Stuart Walker was targeted because of his sexuality.

Whatever the motive, this horrific murder is distressing. We are living in a dangerous world and it should not and need not be this way. I would much rather be writing about equality successes and progress. The fact that I have had to write about bullying, suicide and murder in the LGBT community several times in recent months saddens me. I do however feel it is important that these stories are highlighted so that society can reflect and ultimately change.

About eastlondonmike

I'm a 30 year old gay man living in Leyton, East London. I'm very opinionated and many people may not like what I have to say. I like to create discussion. You can only change things by making people think.
