The return of a legend, an “awwwww” moment and some giant rings have all made it to my second collection of “Things that make me go Wow!”.
The Floating Olympic Rings
The 2012 Olympic Games in London are creeping ever closer. To mark 150 days until the Opening Ceremony a giant set of rings have been floated on a barge down the River Thames. The 11 metre high structure makes a striking impression as it passes many London landmarks.
An Iconic Homecoming
US Marine Sgt. Brandon Morgan and his partner Dalan Wells have been an internet sensation in recent days. The image of their embrace has gone global. The couple were reunited in Hawaii after the marine’s recent tour of
duty. These images will become part of LGBT history. The “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” policy that banned openly gay men and women serving in the US military ended in September 2011.
The living legend that is Cher (the original Cher not that chav from X Factor) has confirmed that she will be making a long awaited return to touring this year.
The 65 year old star took to Twitter to confirm that she’ll be hitting the road in September. It is thought that this will be to promote her new album. As with her recent tours we can surely expect plenty of outrageous outfits and colourful wigs! Yay!!
Infinity Mirrored Room
Last weekend we visited the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Tate Modern. The Japanese artist has over 60 years of work and the selection in this exhibition is extensive as well as inspiring.
My favourite piece was Infinity Mirrored Room – Filled with the Brilliance of Life (pictured below). Walking through this room is one of the highlights of the whole exhibition and should not be missed.
The exhibition runs until 5th June 2012.
